This group will utilize Life Teen’s EDGE program and Confirmation preparation lessons during this 2026-2027 year. EDGE helps students deepen their relationship with Jesus Christ, learn what the Catholic Church teaches, and grow as disciples in their parish.
Students who complete all requirements will attend the spring ceremony at the Cathedral of Saint Joseph in Hartford on a date to be announced.
Confirmation Prep Expectations:
- Students must attend weekly Mass and weekly class.
- Students must complete one faith commitment per month. This should be a different faith commitment each month.
- If more than 3 classes are missed, faith commitments are not completed, and attendance at Mass is missed, students should not expect to be confirmed that year. (We understand how busy teens’ lives are. If your family’s schedule does not allow your teen to fully commit to these expectations this year, we would be happy to welcome them into Confirmation preparation next year or at another time when they are able to make this commitment. We are happy to accommodate older high school students who wish to prepare for and receive the Sacrament.)
Faith Commitments
What are faith commitments??? Faith Commitments are opportunities for Confirmation candidates to actively live out their Catholic faith. They help us love God by loving and serving our neighbor. Through faith commitments, students are invited to practice the Spiritual and Corporal Works of Mercy (works of charity that are rooted in the teachings of Christ and handed on through the tradition of the Catholic Church).
You may have become familiar with the term “service opportunity.” You may even participate in volunteer work through your school or scouting or another organization. As Confirmation students, we emphasize the focus of that service; that we dedicate it to Jesus.
There will be a variety of faith commitments to choose from every month. Stay tuned for further information on faith commitments and the locations of the various opportunities. Candidates must complete a different faith commitment each month to ensure they are practicing both Spiritual and Corporal Works of Mercy.
