The Social Concerns Ministry from Our Lady of Hope is collecting undergarments:
(t-shirts/socks/underwear/bras), sizes kindergarten (4T) to 12th grade (Adult) for the 19th Annual Free Back to School Supply Drive to help NW CT children be prepared to succeed in school. Children in grade school would love undergarments with their favorite characters (Mickey Mouse/Spider Man) and older children would appreciate any new undergarments.
This is an event held every year in the summer in partnership with Torrington Police Activities League (PAL), Baroco Corporation, Torrington Area Youth Service Bureau and the Torrington Public Schools. For many years our parish has been collecting the undergarments for this event. This event allows over 400 area families to receive school supplies and undergarments to prepare for school.
This year it will be on August 15 from 9 am to 1 pm in Coe Park in downtown Torrington. Donations can be made during the weekends of July 25/26, and August 1/2 in the crib at the baptismal font near the altar at IHOM and in a box in the Bell Tower at ICC.
Monetary donations can be made out to the Torrington Police Activities League and sent to: Attn: Sam Laus, Torrington Police Activities League Torrington PAL, PO Box 1532, Torrington, CT 06790 before August 15.
